Folk Remedies - Food
Here we will explore folk remedies using everyday ingredients, many of which can be found at home. In the first of these articles we will explore the medicinal qualities of common foods. I will say here that foods benefit us most from the ingesting of them, but it's useful to which foods can help which ailments. Ingredients can also be used in the making of tinctures, poultices and compresses to help ease external wounds and irritations.
Wild Cooking with Foraged Foods
I also think that people are just unsure about how to prepare and cook foraged foods. Berries and fruit aren’t a problem, for the most part you can just eat them as you find them. Plums are so good fresh from the tree, sun warmed and bursting with sweetness! As July comes to an end and August is about to begin, it is the perfect time to get out there and find some tasty treats. Here then are some ideas on what to do with your foraged finds.
The Transformative Power of Harvesting Wild Plants
To be honest, I still get knots in my stomach when I eat wild plants at a dinner, sometimes even when I’ve picked them myself. A little voice in my head still asks me, “are you really sure?”
Where does this anxiety come from exactly?
Cooking, Magic and Resistance
Learning to cook from scratch and even trying to grow your own food is an act of rebellion and resistance. These skills and knowledge are quickly being displaced by convenience foods that are not good for us and so in this way then, magic in the kitchen becomes another tool in our arsenal we can use to reclaim ourselves from the clutches of Capitalism. And it’s easier than you might think as well, the trick is to start small. There is no other way, all rebellions and resistance start as a trickle. Resist beautifully folks!
Thoughts On Food, Magic & Culture

Reclaiming Ourselves - Food & Medicine: Part 3
I also know what it’s like to struggle to live day to day, and so I’m a believer in making the most of what you have. Exotic plants and ingredients are certainly alluring, but what’s the point of learning to use them if you can’t get hold of them, for whatever reason? It just makes sense to use what you already have or is readily available.
Reclaiming Ourselves - Back to Basics: Food & Medicine (Part 2)
The aim with these articles is to share some of the knowledge, tips and advice I've picked up along my way in the hope that they will come in useful to you in your own struggles against Capitalism.
Reclaiming Ourselves - Back To Basics: Food and Medicine.
... first we must reclaim ourselves and the knowledge that we have forgotten or lost. We must learn to rely less on the State. The suggestions contained here on in may well seem basic to those already well versed in such things, but for so many these skills have been lost and it is for those that I write this, after all, we must all start somewhere. There's no shame in starting small.
